Mission: To make travel easy. Vision: To be the team that disrupt's the world of travel and takes the hassle out of holidays.
HOLIDAY EXTRAS HAS been helping to make travel easier since 1983, when Gerry Pack spotted a gap in the market and set up a business to book hotel rooms near airports for holiday-makers. Now run by chief executive Matthew Pack, the founder’s son, the Kent-based company has more than 7m customers a year and the services provided by its staff of 675 include parking, car hire and insurance.
Fully aware that the future of this sector is digital, the firm uses social media to attract talent and, modelling itself on operations such as Google, has taken the unusual step of going to specialist conferences to meet bright young developers. Everyone received a pay rise last year and employees say they have a good work/life balance (73% positive).
Holiday Extras wins our Wellbeing special award this year after reworking its approach to staff wellness and making it a continual core value. Employees say they love working here (81%). The business works with local homeless charity Porchlight and its people give their time to help its service users get back into employment.
