The wellbeing of Horwich Farrelly’s employees is an absolute priority and is supported by the company’s wellbeing strategy. The business run campaigns throughout the year to encourage physical activity and healthy eating. These include offering the cycle to work scheme, the "stair challenge" to encourage people to use the lift less often, promoting seasonal eating and working with their Deli in the Manchester office to offer healthy meals daily. This is the second year that the company will be offering the flu vaccine to all employees and they'll also be giving "winter preparation" packs to all containing tissues, throat sweets, immune boosting tea, protein bars and hand sanitiser. Horwich Farrelly’s offer flexible working to all employees and an Employee Assistance Programme which most commonly provides information, support and counselling around home or work issues.

My Team
The layout of Horwich Farrelly’s offices is open plan in design and all teams occupy a floor or a section of a floor. Most teams participate in regular meetings or daily huddles run by Managers to facilitate team working. This year through the company’s soft phone system they gave all employees access to instant messenger, all to enable more direct and effective communication amongst employees. The COO has also recently completed a tour of all offices, delivering a business update to ensure that all employees are clear on the company objectives and successes. Horwich Farrelly’s are currently developing an ideas sharing platform to launch in 2017, which will allow all employees in all locations to make comments or suggestions about how they could improve the business.

Giving Something Back
Horwich Farrelly’s Charity and Social committee lead on fundraising and awareness raising for The Alzheimer's Society, the company’s charity of the year. So far they have raised £12,000. Horwich Farrelly’s CSR programme commenced 12 months and underpins the company’s community involvement. This year they've built relationships with local schools, participated in events across Manchester focusing on youth unemployment, social value and employee volunteering. As well as all this they have fundraised for the North West Legal Support Trust, who provide essential pro bono support for people trying to access justice across Greater Manchester. Through the company's work with Greater Manchester's Talent Match and Business in the Community's FutureProof programme, Horiwch Farrelly have made amends to their recruitment practices to make them more supportive of young people aged between 16 and 24 who are looking to get into the workplace. Part of this work has included removing entry requirements from job descriptions for entry level roles. The company hope that this approach will also expand to include opportunities for others who may have significant barrier to overcome in entering the workplace.
