IFDS's Learning & Development team actively ensure that IFDS can support employee personal development; through their formal training programmes in regulatory/technical training; business/management development (including leadership development) and personal skills. Individual / team tailored development solutions are regularly designed. In addition to the internal solutions available, external development opportunities are also made available through their employee sponsorship programme for development such as professional qualifications. Employees are encouraged to maintain CPD logs using an online PDR tool and IFDS looks to support a minimum 50 hours CPD each year. IFDS operates a transparent employee sponsorship policy enabling employees to structure their development through external qualifications. In particular, as an FSA regulated company, particular support is provided for employees gaining Securities Investment Industry exams to enable a competent role structure. IFDS launched its Leadership Programme two years ago and the UK structured programme delivered in-house has gained CMI accrediation, an important achievement.

IFDS House is established as a landmark building within their region and is renowned within the construction industry for its use of mixed mode cooling systems and energy efficiency. In 2003, IFDS House won the British Council Offices regional award for "Corporate Workplace" and received an "Excellent" BREEAM (British Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Monitor) rating for environmental assessment and impact. IFDS has an annual environment day to ensure that all employees are aware of their environmental impact. They have since launched environmental surveys to measure employee awareness and have introduced fun activities to engage staff such as, photography and coroprate calendar competitions.
