My health is suffering because of my work
Following feedback from staff wanting support on how to
build resilience by managing pressure points during peak trading periods, ITC
provided for the first time a programme called “How to reduce stress and create
calm”. A four week programme which introduced staff to meditation and how to
elicit the relaxation response. This programme educated on the science behind
how their bodies function under pressure, the benefits from regular practice of
eliciting the relaxation response and sessions to allow staff to learn and
experience for themselves some of the techniques to achieve it. The techniques
taught were progressive muscle relaxation, meditation, deep yogic breathing,
creative visualisation; relaxation hand outs with the science information and
written instruction for ongoing personal practice were provided and will continue to be shared
with any new staff that join. In addition, ITC have provided spa days where
staff receive complimentary reflexology, Indian head or back massages at the
office, supplied by a local spa who also offers ITC staff reduced rates for
personal treatments. Every department received a “health a their desk” check
and guidance, as well as being able to join and enjoy a running club, a lunch
time walking club, evening yoga classes and refresher updates and written notes
on previous workshops on nutrition, sleep and exercise. Every wellbeing
workshop or programme captures hand outs that staff can collate into the
wellbeing section of “The ITC Success Principles” folder for future referral.
