About JTP

JTP are a group of 14 architectural partners led by Managing Partner Marcus Adams.

They’re backed by more than 80 talented architects, masterplanners, urban designers and community planners working across studios in London, Edinburgh and Hangzhou.

The practice was founded in 1995 by John Thompson and six other directors. John’s early experience in the 1970s and 80s was rooted in challenging urban areas. His method of involving local people in the design of their neighbourhoods was pioneering.

Today, JTP create new places and breathe new life into old ones, places where life in all senses can flourish, that are economically thriving, artistically stimulating and environmentally footprint-free, with a strong sense of identity.

JTP’s approach is to understand the DNA of a place and engage stakeholders and clients.

It’s a system they call ‘Collaborative Placemaking’. Put simply, it puts people at the heart of the process and unearths the real needs of a community.
