Coaching and mentoring from senior colleagues to less experienced members of staff is actively encouraged. Annual performance reviews are carried out and regular reviews of progress against individual, team and company goals and objectives are also done to keep up to date about how the company is going. Managers are supported by their Line Manager and other Senior Managers within the business. More experienced Managers of larger or more complex teams are often assigned a newer, less experienced Manager to mentor or coach as part of their role. Managers are also encouraged to get involved in or give projects and are also placed on secondments which are often outside of their business area or role, all to broaden their skills and knowledge of the company. Being given the opportunity to be seconded into a different role not only increases the engagement and motivation of the Manager but also allows them to bring their newly learnt experiences and skills back to their teams and thereby spread the knowledge accordingly.

Kaplan regularly run wellbeing weeks, where departments are set challenges relating to wellbeing, whether that's increased exercise as a team, time away from the desk, a massage or yoga sessions. Mini prizes are awarded for designated achievements at the end of the week. Kaplan also works closely with Stress Management Society, who provide stress management to Managers as well as employees developing skills on how to best manage stress and how to spot any early warning signs in others. They have also recorded videos on the intranet for quick and easy access to stress management training and breathing exercises. The company also do an annual 'stress audit' to identify any employees who may be at risk of stress so they can address this before it becomes a serious issue.

Kaplan regularly hold Kaizen events, where teams from various locations and departments meet up to work together and brainstorm with the aim to slim down and improve processes. Not only are they working on better practices, they also get to communicate with employees from different parts of the business and job roles and hear opinions from different perspectives. This encourages teamwork and communication between the wider business. Teams use Gemba boards (a visual display) to depict current status of work/team goals. These boards identify goals, projects, current issues, metrics and ideas from individuals. They are regularly reviewed through Gemba walks or huddles, where teams and/or management discuss the board together. This enhances communication within the team and enables a more collaborative team environment. Google chat and Hangouts are also both widely adopted at all levels around the business, which is split over more than 25 locations, all to aid teams with interacting and communicating instantly, regardless of where they are based.
