Kia started as Kyungsung Precision Industry, a manufacturer of steel tubing and bicycle parts that produced Korea's first domestic bicycle.

Kia today are South Korea’s largest car manufacturer behind Hyundai, which owns a 33.88% stake. In turn, Kia are a minority owner of more than 20 Hyundai subsidiaries.
