About Kumon Educational UK

What is it like to work for Kumon Educational UK

My Manager
My Manager
Kumon Educational UK provides an appraisal framework which includes details of the objectives for the forthcoming year. This is signed by both parties, to ensure that what is being requested is agreed and manageable. Through the objective process, Associates can earn up to 25% of basic salary through the achievement of objectives. There is also a Staff Recognition scheme, which runs at the end of the year to reward Associates who have gone above and beyond in their roles. In addition, Associates are rewarded ad-hoc if they go above and beyond the normal expectations, for example weekends away, retail vouchers, wine and flowers.
Wellbeing
Wellbeing
Kumon Educational UK believe the implementation of the Flexible Working Guidelines have been the most important thing that has impacted on Associates well-being. Many of the roles involve long hours which are anti-social and can impact on Associates work-life balance. As a result of this, Kumon implemented flexible working guidelines to allow Associates to ask to start late, leave early, take a longer/shorter lunch hour, whatever they need to do to enable them to have a better work-life balance. In addition for Field based Associates, the company have amended the contracted hours to allow them to come in at 10 am, if they know they are going to be working later that evening. This is a very non-process orientated policy, and one which treats Associates as adults.
My Company
My Company
Kumon Educational UK have implemented a suggestion scheme which has been productive in encouraging Associates to give their thoughts and ideas on what the company can do to improve things at Kumon. This has ranged from environmental suggestions to make Kumon a more green company, to practical work suggestions to enable Associates to share best practice, rather than reinvent the wheel. This is done via the company’s Intranet and an electronic form, and then the ideas are shared with Senior Management. Every individual gets feedback on their idea, whether or not it has been accepted or not.
