About MACKIE'S OF SCOTLAND

What is it like to work for MACKIE'S OF SCOTLAND

Leadership
Leadership
Mackie’s is a family business, with Mac Mackie, the Managing Director and his family, including his father Maitland the Chairman, living and working on the farm. It is a business where the leader knows all the employees and their families and is available to hear their views. Due to the size of the organisation, there is very much an open door policy in operation. The Managing Director gives details of the financial performance, the Sales Director updates employees on sales and the Marketing Director gives updates on marketing activity. There is also an internal newsletter to assist communication.
Wellbeing
Wellbeing
Employees well being is considered very important. The dairy works four days a week, with employees working a slightly longer shift over four days rather than five, with an early shift only which was chosen by staff, many of whom are parents wanting to get home for return of children from school. The importance of family is also recognised at the annual events, for example, a farm Christmas party where partners are invited and an annual party for children of all employees.
Fair Deal
Fair Deal
The company’s aim is that everyone who works at Mackie's has an understanding of the business, the importance of their role and how it affects the performance of the overall business. Appraisals ensure they give feedback for good performance which will also lead to rise in salary. There are celebration points identified in the annual plan, which when achieved, are celebrated. The celebrations vary from small gifts, events such as a meal out for everyone to all inclusive day trips and BBQ parties.
