About Maryhill Housing

Maryhill Housing's vision is for great homes in strong and thriving communities. Maryhill Housing has a 40 year history as a community based organisation in North Glasgow. They work at the heart of their communities, where many people are living in acute poverty and have health issues and it's their job as a community anchor to support people to tackle those personal challenges and to deliver excellent and affordable services.

Maryhill Housing have grown significantly since a stock transfer in 2011 and now own and manage nearly 4000 homes for tenants and factored owners. Their homes are a mix of tenement housing, high rise and new build development. They have ambition to continue to grow and are developing new housing again for the first time in a number of years.

The social landlord believe that having the right culture where you can be yourself at work and give something back to the local community is the model that is right for them. They believe that by making Maryhill Housing a great workplace, the motivation and energy they create leads directly to strong performance, customer focus and continuous improvement.

They want people to enjoy working there and to feel that they have a great work / life balance. Maryhill invest £80,000 every year on learning and development in addition to providing opportunities for mentoring, secondments and job shadowing.

Maryhill Housing launched a new management development programme in 2018. All managers of the organisation attended this Behavioural Science in Leadership programme. This was held over 5 different days and got managers thinking about all various areas of management/leadership from motivation, engagement, empowerment, performance management and a number of other areas.

Maryhill Housing have a Community Fund of £50,000 a year which they use to fund a range of initiatives including bursaries for education, participatory budgeting where funding is allocated following a community vote, and environmental improvements.
