About Melin Homes Ltd

Melin Homes provide homes to rent for individuals in the greatest need, as well as offering help into employment, money advice, digital and energy advice to its social housing residents.

Managing over 4,000 homes in the south-east Wales area, the organisation’s vision is to become a world-class social housing provider, with homes in communities where people aspire to live.

Through their values of “Together we can…do the right thing, find a way, make things happen, make a difference and enjoy the journey”, Melin Homes place a key focus on promoting themselves as a great place to work for all staff.

Self care is one of the most important factors for employees at the housing association, with all staff offered mental health awareness training, as well as a self-referral counselling service.

Chief Executive Paula Kennedy has held leadership positions for over 20 years of her career. Having been recently appointed into her current position, Paula threw herself into getting to know employees and sought a deep understanding of each team and their role within the business.

Last year, Melin appointed a new Chief Executive, after the predecessor of 21 years left for pastures new. Following a few months of getting settled in, the senior management team of Melin embarked on a journey to review the vision and values of the organisation and ensure that the organisation was fit for the future.

As part of its Zest initiative, Melin Homes established a choir called ‘Zing!’, which is made up of staff and board members. Primarily set up to encourage staff to spend time away from their desk, the choir sees a local teacher come into the office to provide a weekly lesson for anyone who wants to join in.

Each year, Melin hold over 120 community events within their local communities, ranging from community clean-ups, litter picks, recycling days, fishing trips, garden makeovers, football tournaments and community fun days, engaging with over 3,000 of its residents and members of the community.
