About Moneybarn

Moneybarn provide responsible car finance to people who haven’t been able to get credit from mainstream lenders. Part of the Moneybarn Group, they’ve provided consumer motor finance since 1992.

Moneybarn were founded after they recognised the need for good people to get vehicle finance, even if they didn’t have a perfect credit history.

The firm has grown each year and, in 2014, their 200 staff moved into the New Barn in Petersfield, Hampshire. Moneybarn are now the UK’s largest specialist car finance lender. Managing Director is Shamus Hodgson.

Moneybarn have always focused on changing customer needs. In 2012, continuing the theme of doing the right thing by consumers, Chairman Peter Minter was nominated as Chairman of the Motor Finance Committee for the Finance and Leasing Association. This gave Moneybarn strong consumer focus within the market.

Moneybarn were recognised as Best Non-Standard Lender, Best Credit Team, and Sub-Prime Lender of the Year in 2016.

The Managing Director can be seen on site daily and holds a monthly briefing where he welcomes questions or suggestions throughout his presentation and encourages employee input. He personally nominates winners in fundraising cake bakes or Halloween fancy-dress competitions.

The organisation has branded bikes called Barney Bikes, allowing staff to cycle into town on their lunch breaks. This encourages exercise, saves money on fuel and helps the environment. There’s also an interest-free rail and coach season-ticket loan, two-screen desks and movement sensors.

The ‘Fundraising Forum’ has been busy supporting the Rowans Hospice and Cancer Research UK, causes chosen by Moneybarn employees. Events include bake-offs, dress-down days and calendar events such as Pancake Day, Halloween and Christmas.
