The NCC is a world-class research centre which enables companies of any size and across industry sectors to exploit innovative ideas in composites engineering. The NCC sits in between academia and industry, being the place where theoretical concepts of composites engineering are tried and tested before being proven fit for commercial mass application by industry.
The NCC prides itself on being industry's research and development partner. When companies need to make things lighter, stronger, smarter and more sustainable they come to the NCC.
Innovation isn’t just in their work, but in their people who deliver it. Development is at the heart of everything they do; in industry, in research, and in their employees. Employees are developed in many formal and informal ways. One of their most recent innovative programmes is the 'Composites Conversion' course which provided intensive training in composites manufacturing to non- composites engineers. The programme involved a three month taught programme, hands on practical workshops, mentoring, and a ‘design and build’ project to consolidate the learning.
Their vision is to "Be the world-leading authority on composites, bringing together and developing the best minds and the best technologies, to solve the world’s most complex engineering challenges".
