What is it like to work for Needlers Ltd

Collectively Needlers respect and treat everyone fairly; they hold team meetings which encourages working together and provide opportunities for people to put forward their ideas. In these sessions they also provide performance feedback, recognise individual efforts and those who are ‘going the extra mile’, for example, they will send congratulatory emails highlighting which value the individual has demonstrated. They invest in people by providing training courses, such as NVQ’s, excel courses etc. They also like to check-in on each team, just spending time just asking how they are, what they’ve been up to etc. so that it creates an open and approachable culture. Alistair has a very visible presence within the organisation and is central to the positive culture, plus the organisation is small enough that he is able to speak to each member of staff on a daily basis.

Needlers provide external executive coaching and mentoring for Managers who are new to their post. The organisation’s Managers are able to attend Leadership Development Programmes both internally and externally. Needlers measure performance through six monthly one to ones. Their employee’s performance is further assessed through a mixture of evidence based behaviour, as well as achievement of individual performance objectives.

Needlers MD presents a business update to all employees twice a year, which includes a review of the half year alongside a strategic update for the next six months. Off the back of this employees regularly shadow their colleagues in other departments. Regular team meetings and briefings are held that follow a prescribed agenda and are often held in other departments to encourage team interaction and individual growth. The Senior Leaders are funded to attend Vistage, which is a coaching and development programme for Senior Managers. The organisation also fund NVQs for many individuals within the organisation.
