The best example of NMB's commitment to employee development is the support available for employees wishing to take a professional qualification within their field. This includes provision of full sponsorship for courses, learning materials and examinations, but also the availability of paid study time and guidance and support from HR. Employees also receive a financial reward when awarded a professional qualification as recognition of their achievement. NMB also have a minimum requirement of having passed the Lloyd's and London Market Introductory Test (LLMIT) and if an employee has not passed this award before joining NMB; they are provided with the opportunity to do so as soon as they begin their new role. This is to ensure that employees understand the market in which NMB operates. In-House training courses are offered to all employees, regardless of their job role, in order to help achieve this and these courses are promoted by e-mail and on the intranet accordingly.

NMB offer a wide range of benefits to employees in order to enhance their wellbeing. These include; private healthcare to all employees, their partners and their children, health screening which is provided to all employees upon request or should NMB feel this may be beneficial after a period of long term sickness, etc. and gym membership at either a corporate or local gym is offered. They also promote a Cycle to Work Scheme and reimburse the costs of any eye tests for VDU users. In addition, NMB provides fresh fruit and water daily to all 8 floors within the building and also fund a company netball and football team that both have matches during lunch times to promote and encourage healthy living. There is also a company funded darts team so they’re a very active company!
