NIACE operates on the basis of trust, honesty and empowerment. On joining the organisation the CEO met with all staff in small groups to find out about NIACE. He then wrote out summarising his initial ideas and thinking about the organisation and the future arrangements for all of them to work together to agree and implement the new vision they come up with. All staff have had the opportunity to contribute to the new strategic plan for 2012-15 and this has been followed up with a staff awayday and further meetings with Chief Executive.
NIACE is a learning organisation and recognises the powerful impact learning can have on our lives in and outside the workplace. NIACE offers a range of formal and informal staff development opportunities to build team knowledge, including an employee development scheme that supports and encourages learning outside of work.
NIACE held information sessions for all staff so that each team could give an overview of the work of their team and the organisational systems and processes that support these.
An away day for newly appointed Heads of work themes was held to develop new ways of working in teams to meet the agreed priority areas in the strategic plan.
NIACE have an annual process whereby line managers can put forward a request for a regrading of a staff member's post if they have consistently exceeded expectations within their current job/role.
