Personal Growth
The IiP Gold Award commended the College for its use of "innovative sector leading development strategies". The College uses a wide range of observation techniques, including graded observation, developmental observation and peer observation to develop best practice in teaching techniques across all provision, and encourage innovation and good practice sharing. These developed techniques have been instrumental in significantly raising standards in the quality of teaching, learning and assessment over a 5 year period.

Just over 10% of full time staff took part in one-to-one interviews during June 2012. These interviews explored staff reactions to the College's aspirations to become an Entrepreneurial College and unpacked views about many of the operational changes that have been implemented to achieve this goal. The feedback from staff about the process was hugely positive. The survey identified some concerns linked to a new role that had been introduced in the previous academic year. Over the course of the summer further training was provided that addressed the concerns raised within the survey. The College always seeks to publish outcomes and follow up actions linked to the different strands of staff engagement that it undertakes. The use of 'you said, we did' promotional literature clearly demonstrates their commitment to action in response to survey findings.

An increasing number of the College's staff are on performance related pay. The College intends to include all staff in this system by the end of 2012. The award of performance related pay is linked to the achievement of business and personal objectives that are agreed within the context of performance reviews.
