About Probiotics International Ltd (Protexin)

Protexin operate in the veterinary, human healthcare and animal-health markets, manufacturing and marketing innovative and research-based probiotics and nutraceuticals.

Current Managing Director Toby Lewis founded the Somerset firm in 1992. By 2016, they had won their second consecutive Queen's Award for International Trade. They operate through a network of global distributors.

Protexin are dedicated to producing innovative, research-based live bacteria (probiotic) products for the veterinary, human, agriculture and equine-healthcare markets.

The company rewards its employees through annual bonuses, and line managers can also present a case to the Board at any time of the year for an additional interim bonus for employees who have exceeded their normal work requirements.


The firm also rewards long service and dedication to the company, with long-service awards for ten, 15, and 20 years’ service. This takes the form of a voucher and a thank you card with a personal message from the Board of Directors.
