PZ Cussons have two leadership programmes, with one internally developed for mature and senior Managers and the other a certified ILM programme. They have also just piloted Action Learn sets for Senior Leaders, along with having a bank of trained coaches and also external coaches as appropriate. The company have an Extraordinary Leadership Development Programme that is supported by internally qualified coaches. Through 360 feedback and via performance review processes they have global competencies that also help define positive and negative indicators for behaviour as a Leader. The Leadership Team lead by example in all areas of their role and interactions with employees. They are open with everyone and happy to take the time out of their day to interact at all levels. They have created a Functional Capability Matrix for most areas and use this to help develop learning sessions that stretch their employees. Sales have Rise and Shine sessions, Marketing have Reach for the Stars and across Manufacturing they have Step up to win in order to encourage and excite employees.

The company have an Annual Living Well Working Well Programme, which is designed to support an overall welfare approach to their employees and provide additional benefits. Their Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provides information, support and guidance to employees on a wide range of issues. It also includes confidential specialist advice where and when it is needed. Lifestyles Health Screening is concerned with educating employees about health issues and encouraging them to manage their health effectively. In addition to providing their employees with substantial benefits, PZ Cussons work hard to help their local community and are included in several community and charity initiatives. They have induction days, factory visits and work experience programmes for young people. They support Wythenshawe City Garden Festival, the Mosaic Enterprise Challenge, a 60Mile bike ride and provide Trafford food bank with product donations. Through Woodstreet Mission they also support families deprived in Salford with clothing, food banks, Christmas Gifts etc.

PZC UK’s reward and recognition scheme ‘PRIDE’ is designed to recognise the excellent work of their people. The scheme enables the company to celebrate the successes of teams and individuals across the business, whilst clearly supporting the company goals and values. It consists of a Thank you £3 restaurant voucher, a Bronze £50 individual or £25 per team member, a Silver £100 and a Gold £250, plus one extra day of annual leave. All PZC UK employees are eligible to participate, no matter where they work or what role they perform. As well as this any employee can make a nomination about any other colleague or team.
