About Quanta Dialysis Technologies Ltd

Quanta have developed an advanced haemodialysis system for use in the home and clinic.

Quanta were founded in 2008 by Chief Executive Officer John E. Milad as a spin-out from the FTSE 100 engineering company IMI plc. Today, Midlands company Quanta are a pioneering medical-devices company with over 100 employees.

Quanta’s lead product, SC+, allows dialysis patients to regain control of their lives. It’s a portable machine providing high flow rates typically used on traditional machines.

Funding for Quanta has been provided by venture-capital investors specialising in healthcare: Air Liquide, b-to-v Partners AG, IMI, Kuwait Life Sciences Company, NBGI Ventures, Seroba Kernel Life Sciences, Seventure Partners and Wellington Partners.

The company keeps staff motivated with a social committee that helps raise money for charity and organises social events. Staff have run 10Ks, done ‘Brave the Shave’ for Macmillan Cancer Support and run a ‘Blue and Green’ dress-down day for MIND and Macmillan.

There’s a range of support at Quanta. Managers' individual requirements are identified using regular SMART time sessions with external trainers, and monthly, quarterly and half-year reviews. Support might then include one-to-one coaching, mentoring or additional internal and external training.

Charity is big at Quanta. They allocate money every time work activities are undertaken - when an interview is arranged or an invoice raised, an amount is automatically added to the charity pot. There are 14 activities, so every member of the team can get involved.

Artwork spread out over the office depicts the vision and five values. Three were part of an internal competition with all staff creating a concept and the winner receiving £1,000 to bring their concept to life. These range from graffiti, to personalised wallpaper, to 3D models.
