At RHP they believe true leadership happens in the moment between people and there is no one way of leading. Leadership is about ‘making sense of things’ in a memorable way to gain commitment rather than compliance where employees follow willingly with energy, enthusiasm, passion and a sense of ownership. Exceptional managers work hard to bring collective intelligence and develop leaders at all levels within the organisation. Their EMT recognise the importance of ‘keeping it real’, being connected and getting help from others. Their egos don’t lead the organisation, their sense of perspective, clarity of thought, supporting others by providing a great place to work and creating the environment for people to be successful is what makes the real difference at RHP. This works because they have shared values, openness, trust and respect for other's opinions.
RHP held a whole week full of events, activities and advice sessions ranging from taster Zumba classes and giving up smoking advice to life-coaching sessions, access to free chiropractors and massage therapists and inter-team competitions around cycling and the 'pedometer challenge'. In addition to this event, they run a number of other wellbeing initiatives, including annual flu and hepatitis B vaccinations, sponsored sports clubs, health insurance and employee assistance programmes, free fruit on Wednesdays, a subsidised gym membership and bike loan scheme. They are all detailed along with some 35-plus other benefits in RHP's award winning Employee Rewards Booklet, personalised and issued to every employee.
RHP provide several opportunities throughout the year for employees to get together at social events and have some fun. The annual Employee Conference is designed to get everyone involved in understanding the corporate priorities and coming up with innovative ideas and solutions on how they can achieve these. Great ideas are rewarded during the event and the day is arranged to ensure social time for employees to relax and get together to have a good time. The biggest social event is the annual Christmas Party which is held locally and is open to all employees to attend as well as their key partners. RHP also hold a number of themed events during the year including quiz nights, BBQs and trick or treat at Halloween. They support a number of social clubs which have been developed by employees including volleyball, football, running and film.
