About Robinwood Activity Centres

Robinwood Activity Centres operate residential activity courses for 7-11 year olds (98% in school groups), making a positive difference developing children.

Based in Todmorden in the heart of the Pennines, Robinwood currently has four activity centres. After 23 years of operation, they currently see more than 45,000 visiting pupils each year. All activities take place in safe, secure environments that are appropriate to provide a safe introduction to adventure activities for groups of 7-to-11 year olds.
Aimed principally at schools, Robinwood have identified three different focus areas that are key to impacting learners in a positive and effective way: developing social awareness, building confidence and other personal qualities, and team and related skills.
Staff can earn bonuses, the most effective reward being the customer-report-form bonus that exemplifies the value of seeing things through the eyes of the customers. Bonuses are awarded three times a year according to scores achieved at the end of each season.

What is it like to work for Robinwood Activity Centres

The culture and activity-based and social events reduce workplace stress. Line managers look to identify signs of stress and respond with support as appropriate. Most staff get the school holidays off (around 12 weeks). An external EAP service is available to all staff.

In 2017, the firm focused on communication within the line teams. There’s a company-wide consultation process. Proposed changes are put on the staff website for feedback. This is taken into account in the final decision and a follow-up document published.
