Every year Rochdale Boroughwide Housing operate a fun packed Health Awareness Week with a wide range of activities to suit all ages, gender and levels of fitness, along with ad hoc events. They have been nominated & selected as finalists for the Rochdale Business Awards 2015 for their health & well being programmes and support for employees.

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing have chosen a community-led project which brings funding decisions right into the heart of neighbourhoods. The resources provided by RBH allow residents the opportunity to run their own projects for the benefit of the community. Their choice symbolises their commitment to empowering customers to determine spending priorities and implement the agreed events and activities. It is based upon participatory budgeting and gives tenants full ownership of the process, including designing the rules of the voting which leads to events and activities being delivered by the community for the community at a local level. The initiative provided funding for neighbourhood projects including health and wellbeing activities for sheltered housing residents, activities for young people, environmental schemes and digital inclusion initiatives. RBH Choice symbolises their mutual and pioneering values within RBH. RBH employees have also ran Charity Shop challenges, with the aim to increase levels of income for the Charity Shops.

RBH launched their VIP awards (Values In Practice) at the end of 2014 to recognise their employees who are making a positive difference and are helping to create better places to live and work. It may be someone who went out of their way to help a customer or someone who is consistently providing an exceptional service. Both employees and tenants can nominate and all nominations will be assessed on an individual basis. The selection panel will consist of two members from thier Representative Body, one tenant Representative and one employee Representative; and an employee from a different team on a rolling basis. Every month the Awards Panel considers all submissions and selects the three best nominations. An award of £50 is presented to the VIP winner every month, plus they'll be considered for an overall best submission for an extra end-of-year prize!
