About Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health

Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health set and maintain the standards for paediatric training across the four nations in the United Kingdom.

In order to encourage employee engagement, and embed a culture of "this is the way we do things around here", they hold an annual staff conference each year. The conference is organised by staff for staff and a theme is nominated by the staff group. In 2018 the focus was on their values of ‘include’ and ‘wellbeing’.

Their conference started with a plenary quiz about staff across the college and then staff broke out in to the workshops of their choice, which included leadership games, a tour of the London Museum, BoxingYoga, acrylic painting, arts and crafts, and book folding.

Since their founding in 1996, they now have over 18,000 members across the world, and they play a major role in postgraduate medical education, professional standards, research and policy.

Staff, interns, apprentices and volunteers have access to over 90 courses for learning and development purposes. There is significant emphasis on learning and development, and flexibility is afforded given to staff to allow them to work flexibly so they can attend courses, programmes and so on.

Team building activities are used to generate an air of openness and transparency and allow staff to voice an opinion in a safe environment. They design bespoke team building activities to meet aims and objectives through fun activities that improve individual and team performance.
