Under the umbrella of The Sofology Academy, the first offering of learning that any up and coming or current Manager will be given is the ‘Introduction to People Management’ module. The two-day course follows the natural curvature of a brand new starter and manages them to become a high performer. The course includes blended learning solutions and focuses on all aspects of people management. As the business moves its focus to creating Leaders, not just Managers, as part of the Sofology Academy of Learning the company offer a number of additional management development solutions. The largest and most exciting course is offered through an external affiliation with Redsky Learning. The external leadership specialists provide a syllabus that covers topics such as ‘becoming a leader’, ‘strategic thinking’ and ‘embedding a people culture.’ The performance of Managers is measured through numerous different means. Main drivers of the business include NPS feedback, which is captured from both external customers and internal Sofologists. This allows the business to understand where the customer journey can be improved and subsequently offers the company a gap analysis of any potential training or development required. Managers can also be measured on pounds per customer group, as well as team conversion.
Sofology have recently designed and built a large breakout area in their Head Office, with colourful booths to socialise and work in, an onsite cafe, luxury coffee machines, sofas, a pool table and even a juke-box! There is also a bar, which has been built to encourage departments to arrange social team events. The business also recently encouraged employees to take part in sports, setting up a company netball and football team that is open to everyone in the local area and has been very successful in developing interdepartmental relationships, whilst giving employees the chance to do some keep fit. Sofology can provide details of an organisation called retail trust, who can provide confidential and anonymous support for their people and this is something that the company openly offer and publicise. If any employee was ever thought to be struggling or had raised that they were struggling with any form of stress Sofology would always conduct a welfare meeting and look at every way they could be supported by the business.
