About Soil Association

Soil Association campaign for healthy, humane and sustainable food, farming and land use and is an environmental membership charity and organic certification body. It exists to build a world where people, animals and the planet can thrive.

Employees embody these core values and ambition and are encouraged to undertake regular volunteering projects. Staff rewards include an opportunity to have tickets to attend the Valley Fest festival, which is close to the organisation’s headquarters, where they can get together with their colleagues and also help to spread the word about the association to other attendees.

A staff Christmas party is held each year and always includes a creative fancy dress theme that is suggested by staff. The most recent theme was ‘Mad Max Meets Countryfile’, with inventive costumes and plenty of entertainment. Wellbeing initiatives include regular yoga classes and a lunchtime running club.

Frequent team building away days encourage staff to learn more about one another and recent trips including a stay at an organic farm with yurt and camping facilities. Activities such as paddle boarding, learning to play the drums, potato harvesting and egg collecting have all gone down well during away days.

Employees are encouraged to live the company’s values in a positive and practical way. Staff can participate in up to two volunteer days per year for individual or group activities. Recent days have included helping a local charity to plant new trees and assisting with harvesting at a community farm.
