About St Michael's Hospice

St Michael's Hospice provide holistic palliative care services to adults who are approaching the end of their lives and who live in Herefordshire and the immediate surrounding areas.

Their vision is that everyone in Herefordshire and the surrounding areas who needs and wants palliative care has timely access to it and in a way that suits them. Their philosophy of care is that the patient and their family always come first. If they can find or create opportunities to promote the patient’s quality of life and well-being then they promise to do whatever they can to make it happen.

Since opening in 1984, St Michael’s Hospice has been providing the highest quality care, free of charge, to the local community. To mark their 35th anniversary they are running a campaign, ‘My 35’, were supporters are invited to think of a fundraising idea that involves the number 35, such as running 35 miles or baking 35 cakes.

Staff are encouraged to use the opportunities from their charitable work to achieve personal development, for example participating in challenge events like SkyDiving, abseiling or running. There are also routes of formal development including personal reflection, mindfulness and spending time in other departments.

The organisation is a charity and they hold many community events to raise vital funds for the hospice. Staff are encouraged to become involved in these in order to see the level of support and volunteering their organisation attracts and motivates them in their work.
