About Summit Media

What is it like to work for Summit Media

Summit Media’s Management undertook a company-wide review of salaries, rewards and benefits, seeking to ensure transparency, fairness and clear understanding by the staff. From research and benchmarking similar companies and the industry and in order that our staff feel valued, Summit Media now have a clear structure for all roles, teams and levels, clearly illustrating the criteria that supports each salary grade/level. The company offers a range of benefits to all staff, including "Experience for Life" that is offered to help staff on their journey of life by providing £250 every year towards an experience that will enable them to fulfil a dream or ambition.
Personal Growth
Personal Growth
Each new member of staff at Summit Media, both at the Wolds and at the Farm, undergoes an initial four week intensive training period provided by their line manager and colleagues. A tailored personal development plan is put together which is then reviewed at weekly one to one sessions with their individual line managers. These sessions are designed to monitor progress and to provide guidance. They also have regular coaching sessions covering topics and disciplines specific to the industry. There are bi-weekly training sessions at group level specifically aimed at improving industry knowledge. External training is carried out by Google and MSN and the company’s tracking and analytics provider. New staff are also encouraged to participate in online webinars and to undertake personal training in their own time to gain the Google GAP and Microsoft qualifications.
Giving Something Back
Giving Something Back
In 2001 Summit Media launched from a ‘state of the art’ Media centre within HMP Wolds. It accommodates twenty five inmates, recruited from Wolds and other prisons, who have strictly monitored access to telephone, internet and email facilities. Employees are selected for motivation and a demonstrable desire to change their lives. Skills acquired through training and work offer the opportunity to work in the digital media industry on release, either with Summit Media or another employer. Most clients visit the Media Centre in the prison, offering the additional benefit of changing attitudes and extending the idea to other employers that inmates are employable. There is also a very strong ‘feel good’ factor resulting in examples of inmates gaining responsible, well paid employment with clients. To date, in excess of 450 prisoners have passed through Summit’s doors, receiving first class training, mentoring and experience along the way.
