About Swan Housing Association

Swan Housing Association was first formed in 1994. Swan will celebrate its 25th Anniversary next year and continues to provide high-quality affordable homes to rent and buy. Today, Swan operates in East London and Essex and manages over 11,000 homes, with a secured development pipeline of over 6,500 homes to be delivered using both traditional and offsite construction by Swan’s in-house developer NU Living.

Swan’s mission is to “deliver effective services, enterprising solutions and exemplary homes and communities".

Swan is committed to being a great place to work. It holds Investors in People “Gold” status and has been ranked in The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Not for Profit Companies in the UK list for the last three years, thanks to the feedback of Swan's staff.

The SMT live and breathe the values. The organisation leader encourages agile working, and has no desk or office. In roadshows, he visits every office to speak about plans and get feedback. He has a 'Dear John' page on the intranet, where staff ask him questions.

Giving Something Back
Giving Something Back
In Sustainability Week, Swan hosts talks and workshops e.g. Fairtrade, Sustainable Fashion, and modular building. SMARTwaste is used for all live construction sites, monitoring and managing waste streams and other environmental KPIs. Swan is looking at alternative technologies for new-builds such as ground-source heat pumps.
