The Crown Estate local communities span the UK. They are developing a corporate community investment strategy but already operate in a number of estate based (Rural, Marine or Urban) communities. They work with agricultural tenants to help them diversify or join a prestigious food store's supply chain. They have a Marine Communities Fund through which about £400k p.a. is directed at specific projects. They are a founding member of the Westminster Small and Medium sized Business forum, have provided community halls for various groups and regularly permit the use of their Board Room as a local unit for community events/local groups.

The Crown Estate operate a performance management scheme which annually bonuses to recognise people's contribution to the business. Customer Star nominations are given bi-monthly to the Customer Champions group and award £50 to people working in the business who have shown exceptional customer service. The Crown Estate do have a culture of recognising people's contribution to the business at the point of delivery. Some managers periodically give gifts to their team members which they fund themselves or make sure that when good feedback is received about a member of their team that this is made known to the employee.
