What is it like to work for ICAS

Working together is one of ICAS' main values.  Executive directors have continued to make more time to communicate with staff and have actively encouraged communication across divisions.  This has been through various methods, regular team events, the HUB.  Also, a new lunch and links event is to be introduced aimed at raising awareness of the roles of other divisions and individuals to encourage more collaborative working. The executive directors also recorded clips about their division which are available to all staff on the HUB - internet. ICAS also introduced a new recognition programme this year which allows staff to recognise their peers in relation to one/or more of their values. The executive directors regularly participate in this scheme and working together is one of the areas most often recognised.
Wellbeing

The Health and Wellbeing group are a sub group of ICAS' main staff committee which aim to support staff to maintain a healthy lifestyle and will therefore focus on issues of concern to their employees. Following on from the success of the Global Corporate Challenge they again sponsored as many of their staff who wished to participate in the 16 week, GCC event.  This year they had 28 people in four teams, one more than last year. The aim of the challenge is to improve staff health, wellbeing and performance at work. The teams covered either walking, swimming or cycling, an overall distance of 33,213km over the 16 week period. In the feedback received 91.4% now exceed the 10,000 steps recommended. They promote healthy eating and supply fruit to their offices for all their staff to enjoy on a fortnightly basis. While they provided tea, coffee and water to all staff, following requests, ICAS have now added herbal and other decaffinated teas to this selection.

The most recent organisation wide events have included the staff BBQ in the summer. This was held in their garden where teams of individuals from different divisions competed at various sporting trials including foam archery, goal scoring etc. This was followed by a quiz with the prize for the winning team being an outing to a show in the Edinburgh Festival. Ensuring teams consist of individuals from different divisions allows everyone to meet with new colleagues. ICAS celebrated its 160th anniversary this year with various events throughout the world. The main staff event was a party within a top Edinburgh Hotel to celebrate everyone's involvement in the organisation's success.
