About The National Composites Centre

National Composites Centre develop and share knowledge around innovative manufacturing processes. They serve customers from multiple and diverse sectors, covering everything from the next generation of aircraft to Paralympian projects.

Their aim is to accelerate the growth of UK industrial output by enabling design and manufacturing enterprises to deliver winning solutions in the application of composites.

Communication is of the utmost importance to them. To facilitate this, they hold regular technology-focussed news updates, which they call "rapid-fire sessions" that are designed to share the advances they're making in an informal way across the organisation. In addition, they hold organisation-wide briefings bi-monthly, where news and updates on how they're progressing against are shared. These are supplemented by regular staff bulletins and 'Lunch and Learn' session, where they share large project updates.

They are lead by Chief Executive Officer Richard Oldfield, who joined following his role as Senior Vice President for Business Development and Strategy at GKN Aerospace.

Employees have access to a variety of people skills development activities such as management development and career coaching. In addition, they can undergo training in a wide range of communication skills, mentoring skills, personal effectivity, mental health first aid, IT skills, and project management.
They have trained a cohort of mental health first aiders to raise awareness and support each other's mental wellbeing. Private Medical insurance is also offered to all regardless of grade and to families at a subsidised rate.

They host bi-monthly staff briefings to share business-wide news, successes and upcoming challenges. They also hold rapid fire seminars where teams, made up of business development, programmes and research engineering staff, present their collaborative projects to the rest of the organisation.
