Torchbox began in May 2000 with the idea of creating websites for people who want to make the world a better place.
The business grew, by the late 2000's, they were working for the kind of clients that they dreamed of when they started: Greenpeace, the International Red Cross, WWF and had twenty-something staff in their Oxfordshire office.
By the start of 2019 Torchbox had grown to 70 people across 2 offices in Bristol and Oxfordshire, with a focus on wagtail, digital marketing and digital product development.
In the Summer of 2019, the original founders handed over the ownership of Torchbox to its employees. They elected a board of employee trustees who will oversee their work, and who have ultimate control over the business.
The successes seen at Torchbox have all been down to the wonderful, creative, thoughtful people who work there.
To say thank you for the continued efforts of their team, Torchbox takes employees on an all expenses paid ski trip every other year in the Alps. In the alternate year, they provide a family weekend in the Costwolds in the form of a mini festival.
This is known as "Torchfest" and brings together the whole company for a weekend to camp, dance to a silent disco, have s'mores on the camp fire, dress up with face paint and enjoy sunset cocktails.
