About Touchstone

Touchstone provide mental health and health and wellbeing services, supporting vulnerable adults and helping them to be included in the community. Outside of their working commitments, they also do voluntary work to support local groups and causes. This includes providing free volunteers to a small charity and providing all training and supervision to the organisation.

They also work with newly arrived migrant communities to improve access to local services, as well as funding a monthly dementia cafe for South Asian older people in Leeds. A variety of health and wellbeing sessions are held for people in minority communities and they provide volunteers to cook a weekly hot meal for older South Asian elders, with more than 340 hot dinners provided for the group in 2017.

Their chief executive focuses on inclusivity and 93 per cent of staff feel the company values diversity, while 91 per cent would recommend the organisation to family and friends.

What is it like to work for Touchstone

Alison Lowe is inclusive in her management style and genuinely open to feedback on her performance, and the organisation as a whole. In 2018, she again asked all staff and service users to feedback anonymously to the Board on her performance and extended this invitation to key third-party stakeholders.

They run and fund a monthly Dementia Cafe for South Asian elderly people in Leeds. Here, they speak Punjabi, Urdu or Hindi to accommodate their guests who do not speak English, which helps them to get the support they need.
