Managers and directors value their employees and send emails where customer service or performance has exceeded expectations. Length of service is rewarded after 10, 15 and 25 years. They listen and engage with employees through a survey which takes place bi-annually. Company results are published on the intranet which shows previous results alongside current results. The survey results also provide a comparison, where available, to the 'norm'. Department results are fed back by managers via team meetings and all staff are encouraged to submit suggestions for improvements. Results are also included in half yearly presentations to staff.
UIA remain committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment that prevents work related ill health and promotes well being. A staff counselling service and employee assistance programme provide emotional and practical support for staff. The scheme offers support to employees on a wide range of personal and work-related problems including access to a professional counselling service on a confidential basis and also provides information and advice on a wide variety of practical matters. Employees also have access to Wellbeingworks, an online healthy lifestyle and health risk assessment module. Special leave is available for urgent unforeseen domestic, personal and family reasons.

The company subsidises the sports & social club activities which include theatre trips, bowling, quiz nights, go-karting and boat trips. They also pay for employees to attend professional dinners and team lunches. Team building exercises occur annually; the marketing department attended a multi activity team building event which included water sports and a driving challenge.
