About Wales & West Housing

Wales & West Housing are a charitable organisation providing 12,000 affordable homes to 20,000 people across Wales. They aim to make a difference to people's lives, homes and communities.

Since being founded in 1965, they are Wales’s oldest housing association and are currently led by Chief Executive Anne Hinchley, who joined the company in 1999.

Wales & West Housing has a clear approach to targets - they don’t have them! Their ethos is built around the desire to empower people to make the right decisions, delivering what matters to the residents and colleagues. What is important to the company is the quality of the relationship between individuals and their managers.

Anne makes it a priority to connect with staff at all levels, and therefore gains an understanding of what is working well, and what requires attention. This applies to the performance of their managers as well as every other area in the organisation.

What is it like to work for Wales & West Housing

Staff have meetings with HR, who take them through the family leave process, discuss options and offer them salary illustrations based on their planned leave – giving them peace of mind. They also provide support to managers, ensuring contact is maintained while staff are on leave.

In September 2017, 14 employees set off to ‘Ride the Nation’, cycling 350km from the company’s office in North Wales and finishing at Head Office in Cardiff. They completed the four day challenge and raised over £6,800 for Age Cymru.
