Qualifications, up skilling of industrial knowledge and training is offered to staff. Staff requesting formal qualifications are supported by professional development funding. Only where the business case is not strong or relevant will requests be declined. Sharing good practice is encouraged at team meetings, at the all managers team meeting, the college's inside story newsletter and at staff conferences. Staff are encouraged to become 'champions' of initiatives setup within the college.

Walsall College organise a Christmas/end of year social event for their staff. To thank a group of internal trainers who volunteered to train all staff, were given a thank you meal as a way of showing appreciation.
