West Kent’s aim as a social landlord is “to provide the best housing and services to help create great neighbourhoods where people want to live”. The firm also does a good job of creating an environment in which people want to work. Staff say they wouldn’t leave tomorrow if they had another job, with an 84% positive score in our survey.

West Kent’s highest scoring factor is My Team, earning an 81% positive score overall. They enjoy the regular team meetings and awaydays and find their colleagues fun to work with (85%). People go out of their way to help each other and really care for one another (both 84%).

Every month there is an update on what the different teams are doing and the challenges they are facing, so that all West Kent employees are kept abreast of developments. Staff are also kept in the loop when it comes to how the organisation is performing and customer comments are shared. This helps people to feel fully involved at work (80%).

There is a very supportive culture at West Kent, especially when it comes to career progression. Since the beginning of last year, 94% of staff have received some form of training and 11% are studying for formal qualifications. A top 20 score of 79% shows that people believe the training is of great personal benefit to them.

More than 15% of the 196 employees who work at West Kent are also tenants of the social landlord. This means they know first-hand that the company makes a positive difference to the world. A 79% score ranks the housing association 15th for this question. People say they are proud to work for the organisation (85%).

All employees are eligible for the company’s final-salary pension scheme, no matter how long they have worked for the firm. People are happy with their pay and benefits package, giving a positive score of 74%
