The shared vision of Audit Scotland, the Auditor General for Scotland and the Accounts Commission is that public money is spent to meet the needs of Scotland's people.
Their mission is to provide clear, independent, and objective assurance on how effectively public money is being managed. Audit Scotland’s diverse community of around 370 professionals work together to audit about £57bn of public spending, almost 300 public sector accounts, and the services and projects that affect all communities in Scotland.
They do this on behalf of the Auditor General and the Accounts Commission, and their high-quality and robust reporting provides the public, decision-makers, and politicians, national and local, with the assurance and information they need, and helps the Scottish Parliament hold public bodies to account.
The organisational is committed to making sure that public audit is fit for the future. Through developing people, leading the use of data and digital audit, and innovating in approaches and products, they will ensure audit has a positive impact and is accessible, relevant, and efficient.
Colleagues work in a wide variety of roles and locations, including the organisation’s offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Inverness, at sites across Scotland and working from home. Audit Scotland utilises flexible working patterns and supports its people to work in the ways that achieve the best results for them, their teams, and the business.
Finally, its organisational values of Independence, Equality, Integrity, Respect, and Innovation are at the heart of everything Audit Scotland does for its people and its stakeholders.
