Gloucester City Homes is an independent Housing Association that is committed to providing valued housing services to all of its customers by building homes and communities where people can thrive.
To help it to do this, the organisation prioritises the health and wellbeing of its employees, including currently working towards achieving the ‘Healthy Workplaces Gloucestershire Award’ which recognises local employers for the work they do to support their employees’ health and wellbeing.
Throughout the process, Gloucester City Homes incorporated a series of activities and measures in its workplace to support positive health and wellbeing, including support around mental and physical health, safety at work, personal and leadership development, communication, and flexible working.
Other initiatives that the organisation has adopted for its employees is Mental Health First Aiders, developing its Employee Forum and a new staff wellbeing handbook, having a focus on Stress Awareness month, promoting wellbeing based training courses and webinars, and holding Healthy Lifestyle talks with all colleagues to promote the free wellbeing services on offer.
Gloucester City Homes has also signed the ‘Wellbeing of Women Menopause Workplace Pledge’, committing to recognising the impact of menopause in the workplace, and providing open, positive, and respectful conversations about menopause, and actively supporting affected employees. The pledge is just the beginning of the action that the organisation is planning to take and it is working in the background to incorporate menopause advice and guidance into its new wellbeing handbook.

My organisation encourages charitable activities
Gloucester City Homes support a number of community schemes. Over school half-terms and holidays, employees are invited to help with the packing of thousands of food and activity packs for local school children. Employees are also entitled to volunteering days where they can support or fundraise for any charity or cause they want.
