Since 1834, The Chartered Institute of Building has had a Royal Charter to promote the science and practice of building and construction for the benefit of society. Its members work worldwide in the development, conservation, and improvement of built environments.
As well as promoting the practice of building and construction, the organisation also promote the practice of building and supporting its employees’ careers.
The Chartered Institute of Building encourages employee development through conversations in its appraisals and mid-year reviews. It further supports a variety of individual and organisation-wide development opportunities, both internally and externally.
The organisation also holds regular ‘Take a Break and Learn’ sessions where employees can learn more about the other teams within the business and what they’re doing.
Furthermore, thanks to the training and development programmes on offer, The Chartered Institute of Building has seen a growing number of internal promotions, which are celebrated company-wide on a monthly basis.
Training is offered at all levels of the business. A recently launched series of Managers’ Resources support people – including current managers and those looking to take the step up into management – with management activities. The organisation has ran regular manager drop in sessions on these, as well as on any policy launches and updates.
Recently, The Chartered Institute of Building held a programme of development for all of its people managers that covered supporting positive mental health within its teams. And the organisation has further ambitions to run more comprehensive training for all of its people managers.
