Founded in 2006, Waste Creative is an independent digital creative agency providing digital services, with a particular focus on gaming. It connects entertainment brands with their fans to drive creativity, culture, and commercial success; a virtuous circle that the organisation calls ‘brands powering fans, powering brands’.
Waste Creative work with many prestigious clients including Supercell, Riot Games, Warner Brothers Games, Sega, Verizon Media, Zynga, and Nintendo.
The organisation employs over 70 specialists across offices in London and Los Angeles, and works with brands around the world. Its approach to everything it does is shaped by ‘The Waste Way’ (its company values), and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Operating globally comes with its own challenges, and ones that Waste Creative has tackled with great success. It redesigned its benefits to reflect the future of work, with flexible working from abroad to enable it to attract, retain, and support talent who are not local to its offices, and increasing green benefits, such as cycle to work schemes, for its employees who are.
Whether employees are working from home or in office, they have the opportunity to grow within the organisation. All employees receive 6-month and annual reviews with their manager, tracking their goals and objectives. All departments at Waste Creative have a seven level tier structure for each role in its teams. Each level has a criteria that highlights the targets that employees need to achieve in order to progress their careers. It also helps the organisation to manage standards and expectations in roles.

I am happy with the balance between my work and home life
The organisation provides mandatory training for managers, including courses that cover subjects such as Managing Teams, Supporting Wellbeing Under Pressure, and Compassionate Leadership. Waste Creative has also recently provided some team members with Mental Health First Aid training and further resources can be found in its handbook to help support the team with burnout.
This organisation has a strong social conscience
The Waste Foundation was recently set up by the organisation to house its internships and charitable initiatives, the most successful being its Animal Crossing internship. It participates in electric car schemes for its employees and it regularly fundraises for, and supports, the gaming charity, SpecialEffect.
