Food service company 3663 has shown it has a healthy appetite for keeping its 5,645 employees happy. Staff think they get a Fair Deal and score it highly for Wellbeing, placing it just outside the top 10 overall in both categories. They say they have not had stress-related symptoms in the past 12 months because of their job, earning a positive score of 78% and ranking 3663 fourth on this question. They also say work doesn't interfere with responsibilities at home (66%, a score bettered by just five other firms). The company gets its highest individual ranking for doing its bit to protect the environment ( 74%, and the top score). Employees approve of the use of recycled vegetable oil as biofuel for company cars and of the fact that the business gets electricity from renewable sources. Staff feel they can make a difference at the High Wycombe-based firm (68%, ranking it just outside the top 10). They are not under so much pressure that they can't perform well (66%) or concentrate (69%). But that doesn't mean they are bored (67%, a top 10 score). Holiday voucher prizes go to people who come up with good ideas, while employees of the month get a £50 prize, and there are loyalty awards for long service. One of the most sought-after rewards is the chairman's award given for exceptional performance, which wins 30 employees and their partners a trip to Johannesburg. Happy with the balance between work and home life (63%), employees don't think they are spending too much time working (55%, a top 10 score) thanks to flexible policies that include home working. A benefits package offers corporate discounts, leisure facilities and excursions, family breaks and theatre tickets. Other perks include childcare vouchers, critical care cover, a contributory pension and an employee assistance programme. Staff members have fun with colleagues (75%), don't feel taken advantage of (54%) and find their deadlines realistic (63%). The workforce is inspired by Fred Barnes, the chief executive of parent company Bidvest Europe (61%), and has a great deal of faith in him (65%).

As a result of the leader and senior managers being actively involved in a number of charities, genuine support is promoted from a top level. The CEO of 3663 is the current Chairman of Hospitality Action, along with other board member involvement. Whilst they do not donate a set proportion of their profits to the charity, 3663 do donate in the region of £120,000 per year to Hospitality Action plus further fundraising monies from any activities undertaken.
