A “warmer welcome” for guests is the aim of Apex Hotels, a four-star, independent, family-owned hotel group. It is headquartered in Edinburgh and operates 10 hotels in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Bath. The group's ethos of “recruiting for attitude and training for skill” is how it achieves its aim.

It employs 500 people across a fast-paced labour-intensive industry and has demonstrated sustainable growth, opening a new property about every two years.

Through research involving its customers and employees, Apex has curated an individual approach to acknowledging its guests and has developed a programme to tailor their experience into memories and moments they want to share with others. Customer feedback is monitored and evaluated via ReviewPro, a platform that collates guest experiences.

The business continually seeks to improve and personalise the customer journey. Its executive team finalises recommendations that will shape the guest journey, by viewing it from the consumers' point of view.

Innovation is key to the group's continued success, with investment in its portfolio of hotels and its Apex Facilities division, the largest hotel-owned laundry in the UK. The laundry services the hotel group, which ensures it meets the high standards that are expected for guests.

Apex carries out annual performance reviews. There is no performance-related pay system, as the group prefers to use an across-the-board approach to pay increases each year, but the performance review helps to determine which learning and development activities are most needed in line with individual, department and hotel requirements.

An employee app was launched during the pandemic, providing information to support wellness. It also helped those still working to deal with the challenges they faced. What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
