Arcadis is a world-leading design and consultancy firm that delivers sustainable natural and built assets through its 28,000 people in 70 countries.
It describes its purpose as simple: to improve quality of life for both clients and its employees who will be working in teams on challenging projects of all sizes that will shape the lives of millions.
Its innovators are its greatest strength so an annual 'City Shapers' programme is available to young professionals with less than 10 years work experience. This encourages them to solve complex urban challenges while improving their career network and developing relationships that might benefit them in future.
Line managers identify colleagues who have performed or behaved outstandingly and can give financial or other awards such as tickets to the cinema/theatre, sporting events, dinner at a restaurant or a bottle of champagne. It's up to the team leader to give the most appropriate award they believe for the level of output and performance that somebody has provided.
Environmental sustainability is important to Arcadis, from the top down. The UK leadership team made Act of Green pledges for Earth Day last April which include substantially reducing meat in their diets, no owning of cars and learning to source food locally. Staff are encouraged to take part in environmental initiatives both at home and in the wider community.
