Founded in 1979, Autosmart International manufacture and deliver vehicle cleaning products for customers within the automotive trade. Customers include car dealerships, haulage companies, and car and van rentals.

Autosmart International's business model is one of developing products in-house with an enthusiastic team of chemists and specialist experts, manufacturing on-site, and delivering vehicle cleaning products directly to customers, via a network of enterprising, independent franchisees. These elements all contribute to Autosmart International’s success.

In 5 years, the organisation has grown from a £25 million business to a £40 million one, Autosmart International knows that a key part of its success has been built by its team of over 150 employees.

The organisation is passionate about creating a workplace that people love working at, and where they want to stay and develop their careers. Over half of its employees have been with the organisation for over 5 years, 6 of whom have over 30 years’ service, better known as Autosmart International “lifers”.

The organisation also recognises that bringing in new blood is vital to innovating its practices. Over 30% of staff have joined in the last 2 years, providing new ideas and ways of working to keep the organisation fresh and current.

Investment and innovation is also key to the organisation’s success. Autosmart International is currently investing £30 million in a second, state-of-the-art, automated manufacturing site and a new Enterprise Resource Planning system. Autosmart International’s “GROW – STRONGER – TOGETHER” ethos continues to be at the forefront of its employee engagement strategy.

When new staff join us, two of the things they frequently pick out as special about Autosmart is our family feel and the fact that their work really matters. We agree. We are small enough that each member of our team knows how their work contributes to the company and how their success will be measured. We are very close to the people who sell our products – our franchise partners and they in turn are very close to the people who use our products, and this means that we can tell immediately when we have done well and when we have done less well. We know that feedback is a precious gift, we have learnt to ask for feedback as a matter of course, and to receive feedback well (much easier when it is good feedback!). How this feeds into our culture is that each of us has business objectives and personal development objectives, and we learn how to do even better as a matter of course. We are pleased to be on the Ones to Watch List and we look forward to doing even better as we continue to systemise and formalise our staff development programmes.
