THIS HOUSING ASSOCIATION, which came third in last year's NFP survey, is turning the derelict Broxbourne factory site of Pulham & Son, a Victorian manufacturer of landscape ornaments, into a garden. The heritage project is in keeping with the community aims of the Hoddesdon-based social landlord, which manages an estate of 4,500 homes in Hertfordshire and Essex. The 182 employees don't feel that work interferes with their domestic duties, a 77% positive score that ranks fifth among small operations on our list, and are happy with their work/life balance (76%, sixth).
