BDB Pitmans may only have been founded as an entity in 2018 but draws on more than 300 years of legal expertise after a merger between two long-established firms. Many of their lawyers and advisers are recognised leaders in their practice areas, which provides a unique, client-centred approach to law.

They recognise that success and market recognition is based on much more than their knowledge and understanding of the law, which is why they are committed to investing in their employees' career development and growth. They provide learning and development to enable each person to optimise their performance, work effectively as part of a team and deliver quality service to clients.

That flows from the top with all legal directors and associates taking a ‘Courageous Leadership” course, which explores the challenges of working in a leadership role within a law firm and the importance of managing yourself first before attempting to manage others. It provides opportunities to work alongside unfamiliar colleagues and help build company-wide networks.

Investing in employees' career development is seen as the route to the firm's continued success. Technical training specific to areas of expertise is delivered in-house with additional external training when required. BDB Pitmans wants its people to develop wider business skills beyond their legal expertise.
