Durham-based believe housing doesn't just provide homes, it puts money and time into the communities around them too.
A core part of the housing association is an extensive community investment programme. Funding focuses on projects that are of direct benefit to customers and communities served by believe housing.
In 2020, it supported over 75 community projects and spent £38,089; it has 28 ongoing projects and continually funds new ones related to crisis and recovery in community groups and organisations.
Among its nine longer-term projects, it helped to set up an innovative food bank in Weardale that offers a delivery service to remote homes as well as the usual collections.
Investment in communities also means helping local people to job opportunities with the organisation. Believe housing has 24 apprentices and many have been playing a key role.
believe housing is one of the North-East's largest housing associations and it prides itself on putting its tenants and its people at the heart of everything it does. Chief executive Alan Smith said: “Being an award-winning housing association is about helping people to work, providing high-quality advice, and supporting the voluntary groups that make a difference in our communities.”
It applauds diversity and encourages learning at every opportunity. Its mission is to strive every day to improve on what it did the day before because "being better never stops at believe housing."
