Brighter Places was established in 2021 through the merger of United Communities and Solon South West, and is Bristol’s largest independent housing association.
Brighter Places currently manage 3,300 homes and serve more than 8,100 residents, with ambitious plans for the future. The organisation values better, community–led, high-quality housing as a cornerstone to unlocking social, economic, and health benefits within communities. A people-led company, it believes in ensuring colleagues have a great place to work, and its residents having great homes and communities to live in, whilst receiving the highest levels of customer service.
For Brighter Places, colleague engagement is not only crucial to success but is at the forefront of decision-making, and that is embedded into its People Strategy which sets the standard for it to become a great place to work over the next five years. Through introducing schemes such as the funded Brighter Places University programme, traineeships, and enhanced investment in learning and development in 2022/23, Brighter Places has seen one in four promotional opportunities filled by internal colleagues and 50% of management opportunities filled internally.
Brighter Places offer a Flexi Benefit scheme of up to £700 for wellbeing of all newly contracted staff, 30 days of annual leave, 6.16% pension contribution, development opportunities, and health benefits.
